How a Scholarship Keeps a Student in School

A scholarship at Bayon School is not a single payment. It is a set of small supports that, together, make it possible for a child to keep going to class.

The reason students leave

In rural Cambodia, many students drop out not because they cannot learn, but because school costs more than the family can bear: uniforms, supplies, transport, and the loss of a child's help at home.

What the scholarship covers

Students in the Bayon programme receive scholarships, school supplies, uniforms, educational and hygiene kits, and a bicycle when the school is far. Each year they have a health check-up, balanced meals, and tutoring when they fall behind.

Why it works over time

Because support continues from primary school to university, a student does not have to start over each year. Families also receive a monthly allowance based on their standard of living, so keeping a child in school is not a burden.
